Okee Bridge & County Road V Construction

2020 Construction Schedule

Nov 7, 2019:  Construction is finished (for the season) and the bridge is now open.

There are still a few parts of this project that did not get completed as scheduled due to weather.  The work scheduled for possibly this fall or most likely next spring, pending weather is:

• Touch up topsoil and restoration.
• Finish the rest of the pavement markings.
• Repair spall area on a bridge girder when temperatures allow.

2019 Construction Schedule Mon, July 8, 2019:  Construction began. Wed, August 14, 2019:  County Road V expected to close at the railroad tracks near Hwy 113. Mon, September 2, 2019:  Labor Day Holiday Tue, September 3, 2019:  Okee Bridge expected to CLOSE to ALL VEHICLE TRAFFIC for the remainder of the project. Fri, November 1, 2019:  Construction expected to end and Okee Bridge will reopen.  There is up to a 2 week delay in finishing the project. Thu, November 7, 2019:   Bridge is OPEN!

Summary

Construction is scheduled to begin shortly after the July 4, 2019 holiday weekend and continue through October 2019.  The Okee Bridge is expected to remain open through Labor Day weekend and then be closed from about September 3, 2019 until the project is completed.

The waterway under the bridge is to remain open to boat traffic at all times.  However due to the work, there may be times when boat traffic may have to briefly wait for the contractor to accommodate them to pass under the bridge.  The contractor will be placing navigational markers in the water.

Proposed improvements include the realignment of CTH V at the Shamrock Road/Old Sauk Road intersection, replacing the existing bridge deck and rehabilitating the existing bridge structure on the causeway and providing sidewalk and additional parking to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles.

Jun 27, 2019:  Pre-Construction Informational Meeting

Columbia County Highway Department held a Public Information Meeting on the upcoming Okee Bridge & County Road V construction project.  The meeting was held at the Lodi Town Hall from 5:00pm - 7:00pm.

Aug 9, 2018:  Informational Meeting

A Public Involvement meeting is scheduled for Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at the Lodi Town Hall.

This meeting will provide the public with a project update since the last Public Involvement Meeting held on November 29, 2017. A summary of the proposed improvements and corresponding schedule will be discussed with an opportunity to ask questions. Proposed improvements include the realignment of CTH V at the Shamrock Road/Old Sauk Road intersection, replacing the existing bridge deck and rehabilitating the existing bridge structure on the causeway and providing sidewalk and additional parking to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles. This project is adjacent to publicly owned property; Madeline Summers Park, Okee Lake Park, and the Lake Wisconsin Boat Access (Okee Landing) on Old Sauk Road. See enclosed exhibit.
