The Town of Lodi was settled in 1845 by Marston Clark Bartholomew and his brother George. Organized in 1846, it was first known as Pleasant Valley Precinct. When Columbia County was organized in 1849, Pleasant Valley Precinct became the Town of Lodi. Today, the Town of Lodi boasts a population of over 3,200 residents and encompasses 18,000 acres in south central Wisconsin. The town includes lakefront, farmland, wooded hillsides, and residential areas. Residents enjoy fantastic boating, fishing, hiking, and other recreational activities. Easy access to Interstate 39/90/94 means the state capital of Madison and the county seat of Portage are within an hour drive. The town's rural character is complemented by two local neighborhoods: Harmony Grove and Okee which are both located along the shores of Lake Wisconsin. The town offers residents and visitors many beautiful parks ranging from restored prairie to lakefront beaches. Children attend the Lodi School District which serves several area communities. A five-member Town Board governs the town, and two local sanitary districts provide water and sewer service to designated areas.
