USDA Rural Development Loans to Purchase or Repair a HomeThe USDA Rural Development has financing available for residents of Columbia County to purchase and/or repair a home. This is an ongoing program, so please feel free to contact them at any time of the year.
- For the grants, the applicant must be 62 or older. Grants are available to elderly, very-low-income homeowners to remove health and safety hazards from their home.
- For the loans, there are no age limits. The loan interest rate as of August 31, 2018 was 1% over 20 years (subject to change), which is about $4.70 for every $1,000 borrowed.
Does your home need repairs? Would you like to purchase a home? USDA Rural Development has funding available to purchase and repair homes in eligible rural communities. Interest rates range between 1.00% - 3.75%. Grants for repairs are also available to income eligible households over the age of 62. In each community, you can probably think of one or two residents - maybe more - who need funds to help them repair and maintain their home. If you have some properties in your communities that could use some love and attention and/or homeowners who are struggling with a list of repairs… why not share this information with those home owners to see if they qualify and are able to apply?
